The aesthetic values of an artwork require artistic understanding. This understanding is possible through scientific and logical measures and away from speculation or personal tastes. The aesthetics of Iranian hand-woven rug, as a work of art, according to its historical past, through the recognition of the harmony of design, pattern, color and based on objective and subjective views, seems to be necessary. Because the principles of visual organization of Ocvirk is one of the scientific and well-known criteria in the field of aesthetics of a work of art; therefore, in this study, it has been used to identify the objective harmony of an Iranian hand-woven rug. This research aims to analyze the visual aesthetics of a hand-woven Seneh (or Sanandaj) rug, which was woven in the late 19th century and is currently kept in the Iranian Carpet Museum. The most important question is what are the principles of the visual aesthetics of the mentioned rug and how are they understood? Also, how compatible is the design, pattern, and color of this rug with the seven visual principles of Ocvirk? The research method is descriptive-analytical and based on library sources. The results show that the seven principles of visual perception (harmony, variety, proportion, balance, movement, dominate, and economy) in the pattern and color of the Saneh rug have turned it into a desirable work of art for the audience. Also, the geometric proportions, the effective element of color, and the final space created have led the rug to an organized and symbolic unity.
