Article Writing Guide
- Title and Topic of the Article: Should be related to the thematic axes of the journal (listed on the journal’s website).
- Article Length: Including all parts, it should be around 8000 words. Charts or tables (if any) should be inserted as images in the article text.
- Author(s) Information Page: Should include the full name(s) of the author(s), along with their field of study, academic degree, and email address.
- Abstract: Depending on the content of the article, it should summarize the issue, importance, main objective (or main question), method, findings, conclusion, and research suggestions. The Persian abstract should be between 150 to 200 words, and the English abstract should be between 200 to 300 words. 3 to 5 keywords should be mentioned at the end of both the Persian and English abstracts.
- Introduction: Should include the topic, issue, importance and necessity, objectives, questions and hypotheses (if any), background, theoretical (or conceptual) approach, and methodological approach. If any of the sections on background, theoretical (or conceptual) framework, and methodological framework require more explanation, they should be mentioned in a separate section (priority is given to a brief statement of these sections at the end of the introduction). These three sections should be useful, concise, and innovative, and should logically connect with other parts of the article, especially the conclusion section.
- Main Body of the Article: Should include strategic analysis of the issue, explanation of various components, scientific analysis of findings, historical progression of the topic (if needed), etc.
- Discussion and Conclusion: In this section, the main findings should be categorized and explained according to the questions or hypotheses of the article. The conclusion should infer from the findings based on the background and theoretical foundations, showing how the research achievements in the article contribute to the advancement of theoretical or practical knowledge in the field of art.
- Suggestions: Based on the article’s findings, strategic and/or practical suggestions for solving the issue presented in the article should be provided. Articles with effective strategic suggestions will receive higher scores.
- References: Depending on the nature of the article’s topic, primary and credible sources from among domestic and foreign books and scientific articles should be used. Avoid citing news websites and unreliable sources.
10) Citation Method: References in the article should be introduced according to the in-text citation pattern:
- In the article text, when using quotations (whether direct or indirect), citing opinions, and quoting from others’ works, the author’s name, publication year, and page number must be included in parentheses; Example of Persian sources: (Amiri, 1385: 44). Example of English sources: (Dyer1, 1996: 25). (In English in-text citations, the author’s name should be written in Persian, and the Latin name should be included in the footnote) 1. Dyer
- References used in the article text should be listed at the end of the article in alphabetical order by the author’s last name as follows:
- Book: Last name, First name (Author(s)) (Publication Date). Book Title, (Translator’s Name), Place of Publication: Publisher’s Name. Example: One author: Adams, Laurie (1393). Methodology of Art, (Translated by Ali Masoumi), Tehran: University of Tehran. Dyer, Richard (1997). White, New York: Routledge. Two authors: Bordwell, David and Kristin Thompson (1390). History of Cinema, (Translated by Robert Safarian), Tehran: University of Tehran Publishing Institute.
- Article: Last name, First name (Author(s)) (Publication Date in Parentheses). “Article Title in Quotation Marks”, Journal Name, Volume (Issue): Journal Pages. With three authors: Raoudrad, Azam; Seyed Ali Asghar Soltani and Marjaneh Soozankar (1393). “Representation of the Challenge between Tradition and Modernity in the Film ‘As Simple as That’”, Sociology of Art and Literature, 6 (2): 213-238.
- Conferences and Seminars: Last name, First name (Author(s)) (Publication Date in Parentheses). “Article Title in Quotation Marks”, Conference or Seminar Title, Conference Date, Conference Location: Article Page Numbers.
- Websites: Last name, First name (Author(s)) (Publication Date). “Article Title”, Date of Access, Access URL in Italics. If the author is unknown, the site title should be written instead.
- Theses: Last name, First name (Date of Writing in Parentheses). “Thesis Title in Quotation Marks”, Thesis Level. University Name.
11) All Latin names and terms should be written in Persian in the text and in Latin in the footnotes.
12) If a term, concept, or topic requires explanation, it should be mentioned as a footnote at the end of the article.
13) Adherence to Persian writing conventions in the article is mandatory. Avoid using ambiguous words, unusual word combinations, and long, complex sentences.
